Item: Celestial Codex (Unique) (Soulbound) (Growth)
Rank: Opal

Description:
Shrouded in the unfathomable shadows of ancestral legacy, the Celestial Codex radiates an arcane and inexhaustible power. Transcribed in the earliest years of ancient magic, sacred custodians across the ages have zealously guarded it. More than an artefact, it is a primal conduit through which both forgotten and contemporary magics flow, its pages a living bridge between the past and the yet-to-come.

Equipment Passive Effects:

Wisdom: +15

Intelligence: +15

Dexterity: +15

Item Use Effect:
Attuning to the Celestial Codex binds the bearer’s soul to the esoteric script within, forging a union with the tome’s venerable power. This synchrony magnifies the wielder’s magical capacity a hundredfold, focusing centuries of arcane energy into a single overwhelming burst. However, such power is perilous to wield. Each invocation drains an immense reservoir of mana and leaves the caster vulnerable during the extended casting period. The toll is not merely magical, but physical and mental; overuse risks leaving the bearer dangerously weakened, or worse.

Cast Time: 30 seconds of uninterrupted focus

Mana Cost: Consumes a vast reservoir upon activation

Recharge Time: 24 hours

Skill: Spirit Flame (Unranked) (Rare)

Level – 1

Skill Type: Elemental (Offensive, Control)

Description:
Spirit Flame is conjured from the same inner well that fuels resolve and fury. It is fire shaped by intent rather than fuel, burning hotter and longer than any natural blaze, and answering only to the will of its caster.

Effects – Unranked

You form a compact orb of spirit fire and launch it at range. Upon impact, the flame bursts or spreads across a small area, searing targets caught within. Enemies struck are ignited, suffering ongoing damage as intense heat continues to burn long after the initial impact.

While active, Spirit Flame can be shaped to harass, zone, or pressure enemies, making it as much a tool of control as of raw damage.

Effects – Opal

Your command over spirit fire deepens. The flame burns with greater cohesion and purpose, clinging to targets and terrain alike. Ignited enemies suffer increased damage over time, and the flame persists longer before fading.

The orb may be guided mid-flight in minor ways, allowing for tighter control over placement and spread, turning the battlefield itself into a weapon.

Cost: Low Mana per cast. Sustained casting consumes Mana continuously.

Cooldown: None. Spirit Flame may be cast repeatedly or maintained until Mana is depleted.

Skill: Elemental Manipulation (Unranked) (Rare)

Level – 1

Skill Type: Elemental (Control, Utility)

Description:
Elemental Manipulation grants the wielder authority over the raw expressions of the natural forces. Rather than creating power, the skill bends what already exists, coaxing flame, frost, wind, and water into motion through focus and intent.

Effects – Unranked
Elemental Manipulation: You may subtly influence nearby elemental forces, altering their behaviour within a limited range. Flames may be drawn, split, or suppressed; air can be stirred into directed gusts; Water may be shifted and forced to flow elsewhere; and cold may be intensified or bled away. The effects are restrained and imprecise, suited for battlefield control, positioning, and environmental advantage rather than direct damage.

Effects – Opal
Elemental Manipulation (Opal): Your influence over the elements strengthens, allowing for finer control and greater reach. Manipulated elements respond more quickly and hold their altered state longer, enabling coordinated effects such as redirecting enemy fire, reinforcing cover, or shaping terrain mid-combat. Areas affected retain a faint elemental resonance, easing further manipulation for a short time.

Note:
Elemental Manipulation does not create matter or energy, it persuades it. The skill is limited by the presence and volume of nearby elements, and attempting to exert control where none exists will result in rapid fatigue rather than effect.

Cost: Low Mana, scaling with range, duration, and complexity.

Cooldown: None.

Skill: Subjugation (Opal) (Rare)

Level – 1

Skill Type: Illusion (Domination, Control)

Description:
Subjugation is the imposition of certainty. Through illusion and compulsion intertwined, the mind is guided into obedience so complete that resistance feels unnecessary, even irrational.

Effects – Opal
You project your will into the minds of sentient humanoid targets, suppressing autonomy and replacing it with enforced compliance. Affected targets recognise you as an unquestioned authority and will carry out commands without hesitation, doubt, or defiance. Multiple targets may be controlled simultaneously, though each additional mind increases Mana strain.

Commands may govern movement, speech, judgement, and behaviour, extending even to actions that conflict with personal morals, instinct, or self-interest. The illusion reshapes perception, ensuring obedience feels correct and justified while the effect persists.

Restrictions:
Subjugation may only affect humanoid beings capable of conscious thought. Beasts, constructs, and mindless entities are immune.

Note:
Those of exceptional willpower, higher rank, or significant mental discipline may resist, weaken, or eventually break free from Subjugation’s effects, particularly if control is prolonged or the caster’s focus falters.

Outside of active combat, the use of Subjugation without a target’s informed consent is considered a serious crime in most civilised societies. Residual traces of domination magic are difficult to conceal, and discovery often results in severe legal and social consequences.

Extended use risks backlash, including mental fatigue, emotional bleed-through, or loss of control over affected targets.

Cost: High Mana, scaling with number of targets, resistance, and duration.

Cooldown: None.

Skill: Icy Wind (Unranked) (Uncommon)

Level – 1

Skill Type: Elemental (Offensive, Control)

Description:
Icy Wind calls forth a biting current of frozen air, drawn from the space between breaths where warmth falters. It is a simple expression of cold, direct, relentless, and unforgiving.

Effects – Unranked
Icy Wind: You unleash a continuous stream of freezing air in a forward cone. The blast scours everything within its path, inflicting physical force alongside numbing cold damage. Enemies caught within the wind find their movements hindered as frost forms across skin, armour, and joints.

Prolonged exposure increases the chance to slow targets significantly or encase limbs in ice, temporarily freezing them in place.

Note:
Icy Wind is sustained rather than discharged. While easy to cast, maintaining the flow demands focus, and the wind weakens rapidly if line of effect is broken.

Cost: Low Mana per second while sustained.

Cast Time: Instant.

Cooldown: None.
